Continuing education has an important place in the professional development of emergency and flight nurses, to augment their knowledge with the intention of improving patient care outcomes. That knowledge is then measured through the CEN and CFRN examination. Ongoing participation in continuing education activities, rather than an attempt to assimilate several years of emergency/flight nursing knowledge into a month or two before an examination, may enhance performance on the examination.
