The Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) certification targets information regarding Java components related to distributed applications, specifically Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs).

 

As of 2006, the SCBCD covers the Java2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) version 1.3 code, corresponding to EJB version 2.0.

Sun has announced a beta of SCBCD's revision to cover Java EE 5, including EJB version 3.0, which will run until 2 January 2007.

Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) certification is for Sun Certified Programmers specializing in leveraging the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform technologies used to develop server-side components that encapsulate the business logic of an application.


To achieve 
Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) certification, the candidate must pass a computer-based test available world-wide at Prometric test centers.

The pre-requisite for this certification is that the candidate should be a Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform (any edition).

To achieve certifications, candidates must successfully complete one exam. Prior to attempting certification, candidates must be certified as a Sun Certified Programmer (SCJP), any edition. Certification exams and training products must be purchased in the country where you reside.

Once exam vouchers are purchased you have up to one year from the date of purchase to use it. Each voucher is valid for one exam and may only be used at an
Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the country for which it was purchased.
